MAGIC CARPET NIGHT

Remuera Baptist Church   Sat 28 Sep

About 26 members showed up at the Remuera Baptist Church for an interesting magic carpet evening, taking us through Israel, England, Spain and Portugal.

Barbara Steel presented a slideshow of a trip to Israel by Phillip Donnell this time last year. She took us to places such as the Dead Sea, the remains of an amphitheatre, Jericho described as the oldest city and lowest place (1300ft bsl) in the world, Jerusalem, and the desert.

Phil, a friend of Ted Owens, showed slides a hiking trip to the South West Coast Path at the southwestern tip of England with still and video drone shots. This began with preparation, and a training walk at Wenderholm Regional Park. The trek began at Minehead, and went out to the point with much beautiful coastal scenery, an old tin mine, a church, and historic stone buildings. There was more lovely scenery, rock formations, and historic buildings as the trek went on to finish at Lizard Point after a total of 532km.

After a shared supper break Carl and Qin showed a video of a cycle tour along the Camino in Spain and Portugal they had done in April this year. This included riding along roads, forest tracks, cities and open country.

COST: $5 koha to cover hireage of the venue.
