13 trampers met in the information centre of Auckland Botanic Gardens in the afternoon. Led by Lucy and
Carl. After introducing each other Carl explained the route of the walking, then Lucy prayed. We started
our walking at 2pm following walking tracks passing NZ threatened plants, NZ native Plants, the lower
lake, the rose garden to Everglade Drive. From there we started the Puhinui Stream Forest Trail in Totara
Park, the tracks was gorgeous with the sunlight dappling the native ferns and palms. The trail took us
past beautiful totara, puriri, nikau and kauri trees. We enjoyed soaking up the beauty of the lush native
forest.
We stopped at the great spot for our afternoon tea break surrounded by the swimming pool,
Beaufords, playgrounds and Barbecue area. For devotions Sunny shared information about Christmas and
led us in Silent Night. Then we continued our walking to the last entry to Auckland Botanic Gardens.
The distance was 7km and took 2 hours. From there most of us went to the lookout which gave us a clear
view all the way to the Auckland city skyline and across to Manukau Harbour.
Before going home
some of us went to The Potter Children's Garden and others went to the beautiful Rose Garden. We enjoyed
the beautiful sunny afternoon. All were very happy.
